Barnwell County
Arts Council's
Sub-granting Program
The Barnwell County Arts Council offers 1:1 matching sub-grants (grantee:BCAC), on a quarterly basis to Barnwell County
residents.  These grants are designed to provide financial support to qualified organizations and individual artists for special
projects of artistic or cultural merit. Project support includes but is not limited to: exhibits; festivals; promotion, publicity,
printing; rental, lease, or purchase of equipment; consultants; attendance at seminars, institutes, workshops by staff and/or
board members of arts and arts related organizations; or costs directly related to the project.

Recently BCAC sub-funded the Barnwell County Museum’s presentation, “Seven Ages of Man”, and also Downtown Barnwell
Development Association’s project which is underway at the Barnwell County Museum; “Luminaries of Barnwell”.  We are
also currently sub-funding the work of Tom Cuny and Tim Hicks as they research and write "The Descendents" ; a historical
fiction novel partially based on findings at the Topper Site in Allendale.

The next application deadline is December 1, 2007 for projects beginning in Jan., Feb., and March

All applications are reviewed by a 5 member review panel which then sends qualifying applications to the BCAC Board of
Directors for approval.

Applications and more information are available by calling our office, 259-4589.

BCAC’s sub-funding program is funded in part by a generous award from The John and Susan Bennett Memorial Arts Fund of
the Coastal Community Foundation of SC and also by the South Carolina Arts Commission  which receives support from The
National  Endowment For The Arts.
